There are a few things we’re all getting wrong.

Define your aesthetic.

First, make sure that whatever path you choose—whether it's social media, drip campaigns, or direct mail marketing—you do so with consistency. I can’t stress this enough. I stumble too often onto accounts that [mine included at times!] have an inconsistent aesthetic or, simply put, do not feel cohesive. Your visual identity should be a reflection of your personal brand's personality and values, and it should create a unified experience for your audience. If you’re a real estate agent reading this, let’s set the record straight: creating a “cute” personal logo in Canva isn’t the same as building a personal brand. Personal branding and brand identity go way beyond just a logo. Avoid confusing your clients; stay focused on what really matters. Leverage your brokerage’s established branding and keep your eye on delivering real value to your consumers. Just a thought.

Define your message.

Once your aesthetic is in place, the next step is to define your message. This is the core of what you want to communicate. Whether it’s through engaging content, persuasive calls-to-action, or informative updates, your message should be clear and aligned with your brand’s voice. Avoid mixed signals and ensure that every piece of communication reinforces your values and objectives.

Define your desired outcome.

Finally, clarify what you hope to achieve. Are you looking to increase brand awareness, drive sales, or build a community? Having a specific goal in mind will guide your strategy and help you measure success. Without a clear outcome, it’s easy to lose focus and end up with scattered efforts that don’t contribute to your overall objectives. Set measurable targets and track your progress to stay on course and make necessary adjustments along the way.

Cool, Jess. But how?
